Potash production consists of 2 major stages: mining and processing of raw material.

Raw material used to produce potash is the mineral syilvinite.Sylvinite is extracted by JSC Silvinit in the area of the town of Solikamsk, Perm region (Russia) located at the Verkhnekamsk deposit of potassium and magnesium salts by underground mining.

Ore is processed by two methods: flotation and halurgy.

• The flotation method is based on separation of silvin and galit in a saturated solution of potassium and sodium chlorides and reagents. Due to widespread consumption of fertilizer blends in the world part of the flotation product is granulated. There are 6 granulation lines of the granulation section at the Second Mining Division (Solikamsk-2). The granulation capacity totals 1150 ths. t KCl.
• The halurgic method is based on different solubility of KCl and NaCl at 110-115 ºر followed by chrystallization after saturated solutions of both salts are cooled off.
